WORKING BARACKWARDS
Whom does he hope he is hooking
When he claims our economy’s cooking?
Are more people employed
Or just lost in the void
’Cause they simply have given up looking?
From the archive:
LILIES
Without work or an income instead,
There’s no way to provide daily bread,
Unless friends in high places
Supply manna and graces
To keep you and your family fed.
(2010)
GRADUATION DAZE
There once was a student named Bob
Who stood out from the mortarboard mob;
Now he’s got his diploma,
But he’s caught in a coma
’Cause he can’t find a well-paying job.
(2009)
Last week’s verse:
REVOLTING DEVELOPMENT
Revolution’s a natural desire
When we lack what our natures require,
But it loses its glow
When oppressed people go
From the frying pan into the fire.
