Will Work for Work

When lawyers are willing to work for $10/hr (saw the actual Chicago newspaper ad on a law blog the other day), you know things are bad.
On a website where writers bid on projects, bids range from $11/hr down below $3! Who can support himself, much less a family, on that? You could work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and still not make enough to live on.
Pretty soon employees will have to pay for the privilege of working.
It may be time to start thinking commune — getting together with people you can tolerate (and vice versa) and pooling meager resources. Or maybe a stretch in prison, with three squares daily, until the economy recovers.
