Your Weekly Politickle: RINOPLASTY

Feel free to publish, post, or pass on Your Weekly Politickle by F.R. Duplantier:

RINOPLASTY
“If you don’t want your votes cast in vain,
Then wash Newt, Rick, and Ron down the drain;
Accept candidate Romney
As the mandated nominee:
Be consoled with a clone of McCain!”

From the archive:

TEATOTALERS
Having taken it on the chin,
All the RINOs are packing it in:
They’d rather abstain
Than actively deign
To help Tea Party candidates win.
(2010)

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST
Having rendered himself indistinct,
A Republican candidate finked,
And we now can take Crist
Off the endangered list,
‘Cause this RINO’s already extinct.
(2010)

CONSERVATIVE BENT
What began as an ill-advised craze
To authenticate “tolerant” ways
Has got way out of hand
And now needs to be banned:
The Republican courting of “gays.”
(2006)

BIG TENT
Though we don’t want to alienate our core,
We are anxious to add even more;
So, to make greater strides,
We’ll appeal to both sides
And oppose all the things that we’re for.
(2003)

Last week’s limerick:

OATHBUSTER
When he swore, did Obama intend
To preserve and protect and defend?
Were his motives all wrong,
Did he plan all along
To presume and project and upend?

One Having Authority

Bring Back the Holy Roman Empire!

In order to address the fundamental problem of today’s Europe, it is necessary to abandon the belief that economic unity will cause political harmony. . . . Europeans will not be created by the euro and a common market, and what we have right now is a set of EU institutions with no Europeans. But to recognize this leads to the question of what Europe is, a question that neither Merkel nor Sarkozy nor Barroso are willing to ponder because they seem to have little memory of the Christian roots of Europe. Jerusalem, Athens, and Rome are seen as contemporary sources of security and fiscal problems, not as symbols of a great civilizational and religious inheritance that truly unites Europe. – Jakub Grygiel

The Insufferable Cuteness of Michelle Malkin

Look at me! I'm cute!

So, it turns out that the cool cat billed as “No Drama Obama” by his sycophants is actually quite the drama queen. While the White House publicly pretends to ignore conservative detractors of his administration, Chief Touchy-Touchy seems to be personally consumed by our critiques. – “Mr. and Mrs. Cranky Pants,” Michelle Malkin

Am I the only conservative in America who finds Michelle Malkin insufferably cute?

The woman delights in crawling-flesh phrases and grotesque neologisms.  “Chief Touchy-Touchy”? “Mr. and Mrs. Cranky Pants”? The latter, from the cutesypie conclusion of today’s column, she considered choice enough to serve as a headline.

“Mr. and Mrs. Cranky Pants”? Is that a title for a commentary intended for adults?

In the second paragraph, Michelly-Belly describes how “the president had himself a mini-’Toddlers and Tiaras’-style meltdown.” Even the punctuation gives me the willies. Ugh.

It’s not that I disagree with what she has to say. It’s the way she says it — like a nursery school teacher talking to a class of giggly four-year-olds or a drag queen dishing the dirt. Her subject matter is serious, but her diction is juvenile.

I do appreciate Michelle Malkin’s efforts to forestall cultural decline in this country, but I can’t help seeing her writing as a symptom, and even a cause, of it.

Speak Truth to Power!

This latest erosion of our first freedom should make all Americans pause. When the government tampers with a freedom so fundamental to the life of our nation, one shudders to think what lies ahead. – Timothy Dolan

We need to stand up and say confidently and resolutely to Kathleen Sebelius, her thugs at HHS, and her puppet-master in the White House: Your view is false and untrue; it radically violates human good and is destructive of communal integrity. Forcing persons wrongfully to cooperate in actions they judge to be evil is evil. And no president, king, or emperor rightly demands others to do what is evil. We won’t do it. – Christian Brugger

What if we all said no?

FIFTH COLUMN
Our brave battle for self-preservation
Must address the domestic predation
Of those traitors and fools
– All those socialist tools –
Who are hoping to change our great nation.
(2011)

BAD MEDICINE
If Obamacare’s such a great deal,
Why the effort to con and conceal?
Why the granting of waivers
As personal favors?
Why the fervor for total repeal?
(2011)

WORKING BARACKWARDS
Whom does he hope he is hooking
When he claims our economy’s cooking?
Are more people employed
Or just lost in the void
‘Cause they simply have given up looking?
(2011)

ARTIFICIAL FAMINE
There’s no benefit to coal
If you cannot dig a hole,
And the value is nil
Of oil you can’t drill.
Who would favor such control?
(2011)

UNPRESIDENTED
We’re remiss to dismiss and deride
Those who ask if Barack’s qualified
If it cannot be sworn
That he is “natural born,”
Then Obama has something to hide.
(2011)

HAPPENING
Our Republic he will rearrange
And the rights of the people estrange:
Yes, it can happen here
And it’s now all too clear
What Obama intended by “change.”
(2010)

TOADY
To Arabian shieks he’ll kowtow,
And the Japanese emperor now,
But the one we elect
Ought to show his respect
With a handshake and never a bow.
(2009)

ALONG CAME JONES
He played green but was red to the bones
In a White House chockfull of his clones.
It is good that Van goes
And the public now knows
What to make of the man who hired Jones.
(2009)

HOPE AGAINST HOPE
By nefarious allies surrounded,
With socialist nostrums propounded,
Obama has won,
The change has begun,
And I hope that my fears are unfounded.
(2008)

CHANGE AGENT
“I’m a master at deceivin’,
At wigglin’, waffllin’, weavin’;
And when I create
A socialist state,
You’ll have change you can believe in.”
(2008)

Last week’s limerick:

SYMBOL-MINDED
When the persons we honor today
Turn out to have had feet of clay,
When our heavily hyped heroes
Are exposed as mere zeroes,
What a lesson their statues convey!

The Time of Fulfillment

Obama Declares War on the Private Sector

Iran is threatening to blockade the 20 percent of the world’s oil supply that flows through the Strait of Hormuz. The American economy is struggling from high unemployment. The volatility of oil prices, reflected in periodic spikes at the gas pump, is a threat to productivity. A privately funded pipeline project that would create tens of thousands of jobs while helping stabilize America’s energy supply clearly seems to be in the national interest. Instead, the Obama administration found that a bureaucratic desire for more study outweighed the rest of the national interest. – Gale Norton

Obama Declares War on the Church

[I]t is imperative that the entire Catholic community in the United States come to realize the grave threats to the Church’s public moral witness presented by a radical secularism which finds increasing expression in the political and cultural spheres. The seriousness of these threats needs to be clearly appreciated at every level of ecclesial life. Of particular concern are certain attempts being made to limit that most cherished of American freedoms, the freedom of religion. – Benedict XVI

In August 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services issued an interim final rule that will require most health insurance plans to cover preventive services for women including recommended contraceptive services without charging a co-pay, co-insurance or a deductible. . . . Today the department is announcing that the final rule on preventive health services will ensure that women with health insurance coverage will have access to the full range of the Institute of Medicine’s recommended preventive services, including all FDA-approved forms of contraception. – Kathleen Sebelius

This is going to be a long year.
