Who will laud the memory of Norman Borlaug?
Borlaug’s work was responsible for saving over a billion lives. – Center for Individual Freedom
Personally, I’d never heard of Norman Borlaug before this week. Clearly, though, there are giants among us, and he was one of them. We don’t hear about them because they’re so focused on the common good and so busy pursuing it that they have neither the time nor the inclination to clamor for attention — unlike the self-absorbed and self-promoting pipsqueaks in politics and entertainment who buzz about us like gnats and offer nothing of value.
I let you keep the femur, but . . . I want my skull!
Are the strange new neighbors chopping up human bodies next door — or aren’t they? Until the very last scene, you’re never quite sure.
Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, and Rick Ducommun are hysterical as the three cul-de-sac Clouseaus who decide to investigate. Corey Feldman’s a riot as an airheaded teenager who invites all the “dudes” over to watch the antics and eat pizza, Laugh-In’s loony little poet Henry Gibson is a shockingly sinister mad scientist, and Wendy Schaal in short shorts would make any movie an uplifting experience.
Watch this endearingly funny film and you’ll find yourself agreeing with Feldman, who sums it up perfectly in the last line: “I love this neighborhood!”
Brad Zinn. the one-man memorial to the great comedians, sent out a notice this morning about the death of Henry Gibson. Why not watch The ‘burbs with your family tonight in his honor?
ACORN vs. the Mafia
The difference between ACORN and the Mafia? The Mafia uses private moneys generated by illegal activities to pay off law enforcement and politicians to overlook those activities. ACORN uses public moneys to engage in criminal activities and pays off law enforcement and politicians with some of those same public funds to overlook those activities. – Bernie Planck
Investigate the Mainstream Media!
We continue to see a growing disconnect between what is going on in the country and what the media are covering. If we only had the so-called “mainstream media,” would we know about the uproar at townhall meetings? Would we know about the tea party protests that draw tens of thousands to a single site? Would we know about all of Barack Obama’s czars or the endless corruption at ACORN? We all know the answers to those questions. – Bobby Eberle
How many people who voted for Obama would have done so if the mainstream media had reported on his subversive and criminal connections? By covering up these connections, they, like ACORN, are operating as an organized criminal enterprise.
Investigate ACORN!
ACORN is clearly an organized criminal enterprise, it is national in scope, and it exerts a dangerous influence over politicians and our political process at the local and national level. – Chris Carmouche, GrasstopsUSA
Read the Constitution!
One milestone in the march to megagovernment was “the passage in 1913 of the Sixteenth Amendment, which permitted a federal income tax. Prior to enactment of the income tax, Congress’ power to spend was held in check by its limited power to tax.” Another milestone — or millstone — was “the ascendancy of Franklin Roosevelt and his New Deal agenda to the White House during the Great Depression. One after another, constitutional safeguards against excessive government were ignored or misinterpreted.” – “Congress in Contempt of the Constitution,” F.R. Duplantier, Behind The Headlines, 1997
You can read the Constitution in under an hour. If you’ve never read it, read it.
Overexposure
Montgomery County police arrived at the Germantown crime scene near the intersection of Wisteria Drive and Misty Meadow Terrace to find a mess of green and yellow spray paint. Underneath it all, one of the department’s 60-some speed cameras was temporarily blinded. – Washington Times
Blinding a speed camera is very bad. Do not do this.
Your Weekly Politickle: ALONG CAME JONES
Feel free to publish, post, or pass on Your Weekly Politickle by F.R. Duplantier:
ALONG CAME JONES
He played green but was red to the bones
In a White House chockfull of his clones.
It is good that Van goes
And the public now knows
What to make of the man who hired Jones.

ECO-MANIACS
Their abiding misanthropy shows
What’s behind the Earth Firster’s pose,
For these mopes without mirth
Have no love for the earth
And are nothing but Mean Green Joes.

OBAMA’S NEXT GREAT IDEA
“Uniforms are the ultimate tool
To ensure academic renewal –
Think of Junior how cute
In his little MAO* suit,
Getting ready to head off to school!”
